Bill Lorimer, Camp Director, has devoted his life to camp.
He has been enriching children through their time at all our camps, Bill believes in a good camp. He devotes all his time to the Day Camp these days but Firebird, Wingfoot, Falcon, JLW Ranch Camp, Wing-a-Roo, Teen Camp, Horse Masters-showing, and Camp Roosevelt for boys have all been part of the Lorimer Family camps.
Robyn Lorimer, a Certified Teacher in Florida joins camp as Assistant Director in the summer, along with Judy Lorimer, Assistant Director, and Horsemanship Program.
All Lorimer family members for three generations have had the passion and skills of helping kids grow up, and have fun during their summer. Our programs are intentional programs, the kids gain better self confidence, self image, and make precious friends. Camp makes life a joy.
Many thanks to alumni of all our Lorimer Camps for years of devotion to our camps, along with many adults who yearly help us out. We had Holly, Krista, Marty all in for weeks each to help in 2008, and hope they will be back! Along with Elizabeth, Riding Lesson Leader, Nora, Beach and Program Leader, and Male Leaders to be announced. Apprentice program are 1/2 graduates and welcome to apply with Judy.
Staff for camp are all college age, and we have adults coming to help throughout the summer. Staff are interviewed, background checked, and licenses checked. We hire nice young people to LEAD and TEACH all we offer at camp. The beach lifeguards are certified yearly. Camp is run with all standards of the camping regulations and up to date certificates and inspections. Our camp is clean, neat, and a close knit family who all care about each other daily!.
Bus Drivers are well screened and safety records on file. We enjoy a great group of drivers and new vans (all 2006 or newer). We are reliable, on time, and dependable. We certainly believe in parent/camp communications whenever needed.
With safety first we rarely have serious accidents, even with the horses, but help is only 7 minutes away EMT, and we are trained in CPR and First Aid. We fully believe 99% of accidents can be prevented before they happen in a well run, safety minded camp.
NO CELL PHONES DURING CAMP. If you have an emergency at home call camp to get a message or to get your child to the phone, this rarely occurs. No other electronics at camp, but can be used on the bus ride at the families' risk, camp is not responsible for damaged or lost items.
COME JOIN THE FUN for 2010, we hope you can bring along some friends too!
